This week I had the opportunity to participate in a panel of entrepreneurs for the National Association of Black MBA’s New Jersey Chapter. We share with them our experiences as entrepreneurs as we all were asked questions by the faciliatator as well as from the audience.
It reminded me of how far I have come in my business since I started about 11 years ago. It also allowed us an opportunity to encourage someone else and let them know they have what it takes to make to. They just need to get out there and try. We all have our hang ups and sometimes need someone to just tell us to jump! We will never know unless we try!
"Making Aromatherapy Creams & Lotions " by Donna Maria
When I first started making soaps one of the first industry names I came across was Donna Maria Coles Johnson. She has been advocating for the handcrafted beauty industry for years. Did you know she started out making handcrafted beauty just like us with a passion for making awesome crafted skin care? I was so psyched when I saw she wrote a book and of course I have it in my handcrafted beauty book library.
Do this day (10 years later) I still see her book on book shelves in various book stores. I even get to say to myself "I know her"!
I recommend this book if you would like to learn in-depth about how to formulate various lotions and creams. It is a must have in your handcrafted beauty book library.

“ Sooo proud of my translucent soap made at
La Shonda Tyree’s class! It has a citrus punch fragance made with pink grapefruit, lemon and orange oils in a pineapple mold. Sounds delicious? ….
Reminds me of Colombia where you can hand pick your own citrus fruit! at the " Fincas" (Farms) or from your own backyard . Will keep everyone posted, about other results! ” ~ Gleydin G.
