I was watching the local news this morning and saw a clip about a 13 year old boy who started a candle company targeted toward men called Man Cans. It all started when his sister was making candles with “girlie” scents as a fundraiser project and he was teasing her about them. Then the idea came to him about creating candles for men with “manly” scents like new mitt, bacon and sawdust. So far he has already sold 500 candles!
What I also like about his candles is that the cans he uses are recycled from soup cans that he donates to feed others. What a mission this young man has started from the get go of his business. Once desiring to be an attorney he now wants to grow his candle business!
Are you struggling to find your niche? Maybe it is as simple as this young mans idea. I often wonder as a business owner do we over think things, what I like to call analysis paralysis. Children often speak the truth and say what is on their minds. They seem to see through all the clutter and make things simplistic where as adults we over analyze. Could are niche be starring us in our face and as simple as seeing a need that is not be addressed or that we are addressing that others are not. This will enable you to focus better on your business niche and not try to overwhelm yourself by trying to be all to everyone.
Watch the video below about Man Cans owner, Hart Main. Hopefully he will inspire you to start something that you have been pondering on for years or fine tune what you have already been doing to something more profitable by finding your niche.
