The United States of America celebrates it’s independence from the British annually on July 4th. It was the day that the Declaration of Independence was adopted, July 4, 1776.  The Continental Senate was declaring to the British government that they were free from their rule.

During an interview singer, songwriter, musician, and civil rights activist, Nina Simone was asked what free was to her. Her response was “Freedom is to me, no fear!  Really no fear. If I could have that half of my life, no fear….”

As I heard her say this, I began to think what my life would have been like if I had no fear. No fear of what others would say about me or think about me. It is amazing how much of our lives fear dominates and even can oppress us. It is like being in bondage or trapped in a cage with invisible bars.

As I self access my own life, I see how fear has kept me trapped in an invisible cage. I don’t like how that feels. But the redeeming grace is I see how when I began to declare that fear no longer had rule over my life I saw how what I desired started to come into fruition.

The US Senate in 1776 declared to the British we are independent, we are free from your rule. Now it is your turn.

How are you allowing fear to keep you from moving forward beyond a place in your life that you don’t want or desire? Do yourself a favor and declare that fear no longer has rule over you and your are free.

Declare and Celebrate Your Independence!
