Soap Maker Donates Soap to Clean the World™ in Haiti

Paterson, New Jersey —  February 2, 2010 —  In an effort to help the work of Clean the World™ the members of the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild, Inc., an independent non-profit trade organization, were called to action to donate some of their handcrafted soaps to Clean the World™  of Orlando, Florida.  “Some of the people in Haiti are dying unnecessarily from diseases that could have been avoided if they had soap available to wash their hands,” says La Shonda Tyree, President of Nyah.  “We thought we’d share our handcrafted soaps with the people of Haiti because the simple act of hand washing can prevent the spread of up to 60% of disease-causing germs.”

Clean the World™ helps to save lives by recycling slightly used hotel soaps and shampoos.  Instead of the slightly used soaps ending up in landfills they are re-batched through a hygienically safe recycling process.  Many lives will be saved from acute lower-respiratory infection and diarrheal illnesses simply by hand washing.

The soaps collected by Clean the World™ will go to help those in Haiti and in other countries.  Nyah participated in this call to action by donating 14 pounds of various handcrafted soaps.  Collectively with other members of the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild, Inc.; 100’s of pounds of soap have already been donated to the Haitian relief efforts.
